latest first- Couple adjourned over money laundering in Longford Money laundering (invoice re-direct fraud) · Co. Longford
Gerry Idomelle, a 32-year-old man, and Giedre Ginkute, a 35-year-old woman, both of Edgeworthstown, Longford, were charged with money laundering in connection with an invoice re-direct fraud targeting a Zurich holdings company. The scheme involved emails sent to the business purporting to be a legitimate supplier, instructing it to redirect a €22,600 payment to a different bank account. AIB Longford alerted Gardaí to the suspected fraudulent transaction, and CCTV showed Ms Ginkute withdrawing the money, which she then sent via moneygram from an internet cafe. At Longford Circuit Court in November 2022, the judge adjourned Ms Ginkute's matter to January 10 for a Probation Service assessment and Mr Idomelle's matter to October 3 the following year.
