On 18 November 2023, Garda Patrick McGee stopped a minibus on the Lynally, Mucklagh by-pass in Offaly while it was being used to bring golfers from Kilkenny to Birr. Driver Sandra Hogan, 53, of Freshford, Kilkenny, failed to produce a driver's card and no tachograph was in use, while bus owner Gerard Watson of the same address was charged with failing to provide sufficient tachograph paper. The couple appeared at Tullamore District Court in July 2024, where the defence said the driver did not know a tachograph was required and the judge granted legal aid. Hogan was fined €400 for not using a tachograph and Watson was fined €400 for not providing the required paper.
