  Georgina Keyes, a 39-year-old woman, was arrested at 12.30am on 31 March 2024 after gardaí said she was highly intoxicated and shouting and abusive on Main Street, Portlaoise. She admitted being drunk and engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour there, and admitted causing criminal damage to a cell at Portlaoise Garda Station, where she had urinated and defecated and the cell had to be cleaned. She appeared before Portlaoise District Court, where she admitted the charges. On 10 May 2024, Judge Cody fined her €300, gave a two-month sentence for the criminal damage suspended for two years, took the public intoxication charge into consideration, and ordered €200 to be donated to the Cara Curley Foundation.
