  On 18 March, year not given, a garda on patrol at Lynch's Street in Cork city arrested George Arundel, who was unsteady on his feet, slurring his words, evasive and swearing at him. Arundel told the garda he would rape his mother. He pleaded guilty at Cork District Court to threatening, abusive or insulting words and behaviour and to being drunk and a danger, and his defence solicitor said he has an alcohol dependency and mental health issues. Judge Waters described the remark as despicable and an aggravating factor and imposed a two-month prison sentence, reported on 1 September 2026 and again on 28 September 2026.
