Gavin Howard Risden, a 48-year-old British man, was reported as a disruptive passenger on a United Airlines flight from Newark to Dublin. After landing on 3 June 2025, Gardaí boarded the aircraft and attempted to engage with him, and he allegedly assaulted a Garda, with O.C. spray deployed to stop the sustained assault. He fled the aircraft and was arrested at Dublin Airport shortly after. He was charged with five offences including assault causing harm and wilful obstruction of a peace officer, and was remanded in custody at Dublin District Court. The injured Garda was treated at Beaumont Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
