Gavin Deering, a 24-year-old man from Tallaght, Dublin, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis for sale or supply and possession of cocaine found in a room at the Maldron Hotel in Tallaght on 4 July 2021. Gardaí had been surveilling Deering and saw him coming and going from the hotel dealing drugs before obtaining a search warrant for the room. A large wrapped package of cannabis valued at €15,568, cocaine valued at €106, weighing scales, and deal bags were seized. At Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 30 January 2023, Judge Martin Nolan sentenced Deering to three years in prison, suspending the final year on conditions of good behaviour for two years.
