Gary Clarke, a 55-year-old man from Park Street, Dundalk, was jailed for three years at Dundalk Circuit Court on 29 November 2024 for money laundering and drug offences arising from two separate incidents. In October 2021, he was stopped driving a car in Dundalk, where over €1,000 and a small amount of cocaine were found in his wallet and €8,175 wrapped in cling film was found in the car. In January 2022, after a minor traffic collision, €45,070 was found in his car and €70,000 worth of cocaine and MDMA was seized at his Park Street address. Clarke pleaded guilty to money laundering and unlawful possession of drugs from the first detection and to having drugs for sale or supply and a further money laundering offence from the second. He was sentenced to two years and nine months for the first offence, with a concurrent five years for the second, the final two years suspended on a good behaviour bond.
