    On 19 January 2026, Gardaí under surveillance intercepted two vehicles at Baronstown, Co Meath, after Garry Owens, 45, of Navan, allegedly met another man in a Black Toyota RAV4 at Ross Cross Service Station near Tara while in a Volkswagen Golf. Three bin liners containing 12 half kilos of cannabis worth €120,000, white powder, and cash were found 12 feet from the vehicles, with further cannabis discovered at Belper bringing the total to €260,000 in cannabis and €11,820 in cash. Owens and Kenneth McMorrow, 46, of Kilmessan, were arrested and charged with possession of cannabis for sale or supply and proceeds of crime. Both men appeared before Judge Eirinn McKiernan at Trim District Court on 22 January 2026, where Owens' bail was refused and both were remanded in custody to appear on 27 January 2026 for DPP directions.
