Garett Molloy, 28, a man from Lower Sheriff Street, Dublin, was fatally shot by a plain-clothed garda on 15 May 2009 during an attempted armed robbery of a cash-in-transit vehicle outside a Centra store on Foxborough Road, Lucan. His accomplice Keith Murtagh was also wounded in the encounter, and the gang had been under surveillance for several months.
