latest first- Inquest finds accidental death in Fahan road crash Death (road traffic incident) · Co. Donegal
Amy Loughrey, a 25-year-old woman from Seven Oaks, Waterside, Derry, was killed instantly when her car veered onto the wrong side of the road in a two-car crash at Glebe, Fahan, Donegal, on the night of 22 December 2016. She had been returning home from work at The Red Door in Fahan, and the other driver was Gareth McCracken, who was driving a Ford Focus home from Letterkenny Shopping Centre. No alcohol was detected on either driver, and McCracken sustained neck, back and wrist injuries. A 2022 inquest found her death accidental, caused by lethal brain injury, and a forensic collision investigator opined the other driver was above the 60km/h speed limit in wet, dark conditions.
