Gareth Delaney, 25, of Roscommon, bought a BMW X5 SUV for €27,000 from Murray's autos in Nenagh, Tipperary, on January 8, 2025, using a Limerick property developer's credit card. Purchases were made at car dealerships in Dublin, Longford and Nenagh over about a month. He cooperated fully with gardaí after detection and has repaid the €30,000 taken. Limerick Circuit Court, before Judge Colin Daly, sentenced him to two and a half years' imprisonment, with the sentencing report dated 11 or 14 February 2026.

Between 31 December 2024 and 13 January 2025, Gareth Delaney (25), of Roscommon, fraudulently withdrew €30,214.29 from the business bank account of Jerry O'Sullivan of Appletree Developments, Ballysimon, Limerick. Gardaí arrested Delaney after he used his own name and address to buy items on his phone, including a BMW X5 SUV costing €27,000. Delaney pleaded guilty to theft at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court and was jailed for 2½ years, as reported on 4 February 2026.
