  Ryan Cahill, 34, of Dublin, damaged a TV at a friend's house in Rockdale, Portlaoise, before driving a car into several vehicles on the Abbeyleix Road on 18 July 2021. A blood sample showed an alcohol reading of 248 and a cocaine reading of 445.9, and he was charged with criminal damage, assault on Garda Rigney, dangerous driving, drink and drug driving, and eight hit and run offences. Cahill, who had no previous convictions, was sentenced in Portlaoise District Court in March 2022 to multiple driving disqualifications and fines. His solicitor told the court that a combination of alcohol, cocaine, and prescribed medication caused a psychotic episode.
