  Two gardaí, Garda Daniel Murphy and Garda Lee Scanlon, were assaulted at the Donegal County Council Public Services Centre in Letterkenny on 23 April 2026 and treated at Letterkenny University Hospital before being discharged. Abdou Abouzid, 35, and a woman in her 30s were arrested at the scene; Abouzid was charged with four offences including assaulting both gardaí, failing to comply with a garda direction, and breach of the peace, while the woman was released and charged. Abouzid appeared at Letterkenny District Court on 24 April, was granted bail, and the case was adjourned to 18 June for DPP directions. His bail was subsequently varied to allow him to reside in Edenderry, Co. Offaly, with conditions including signing on at Tullamore Garda Station three times a week.
