    Eric Nicholson, 25, of Mountmellick, was fined €250 at Portlaoise District Court for being drunk and abusive to a garda. On 30 April 2022, after having drinks with friends, Nicholson was highly intoxicated and unsteady on his feet at Limetree Avenue, Kilminchy, Portlaoise. When a garda approached, he called Garda Considine a paedophile and a pig. He admitted the offence and his solicitor asked to apologise in open court. Judge Patricia Cronin imposed the fine on 24 June 2022.
