A 75-year-old man, Gaoimhreadhan O Coileain, of Dundalk, Co Louth, was arrested at Dublin Airport on 5 March 2026 with a suspected fake passport and a one-way ticket to Glasgow. He was charged with three offences under the Passport Act, including possessing a false passport at Gate 188 on 5 March, and two counts of providing false information in passport applications in 2023 and 2017. At Dublin District Court the day after his arrest, sources give different bail terms: conditional bail of €3,000, or a €300 bond with a €5,000 independent surety. He was remanded in custody with consent to bail and is due back in court on 19 March, but he has not yet entered a plea because the Director of Public Prosecutions' directions are still pending.
