€121,000 was stolen from a Dublin solicitors' firm through invoice redirect fraud on 9 November 2020, with the proceeds laundered through accounts linked to the Black Axe organised crime group. Four men — men Cameron Fanning (25) and Aaron Clancy (21), and men Mubarak Salawu (22) and Olumide Lawal (27) — were sentenced to suspended prison terms in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in January 2024. Non-Irish bank worker Funmi Abimbola (26), from Lucan, was arrested, fled to the UK after being granted bail, and was extradited from Manchester. He pleaded guilty to four counts of money laundering and one count of assisting organised crime and was sentenced in October 2024 to five years in prison with two years suspended.
