latest first- Donegal council votes to take legal action over harassment and intimidation Harassment and intimidation · Co. Donegal
Donegal county councillors voted 32 to 2 on 18 July 2022 to take legal action against independent councillor Frank McBrearty Jnr over what the council described as a campaign of harassment and intimidation against council members and staff. The matter relates to alleged corruption in the purchase of five mica-affected houses in Buncrana. Council solicitors VP McMullin wrote to McBrearty on 12 July 2022 seeking undertakings by 5pm on 18 July 2022, stating the council intended to issue legal proceedings if no satisfactory response was received. An independent report had exonerated council management and staff of wrongdoing. McBrearty was not present at the meeting where the vote took place.
