  Frank Chambers, a 58-year-old man and former principal at Roscommon Community College, was found not guilty of 34 charges of theft and false accounting relating to canteen takings between 2011 and 2017. The case began when the school secretary raised concerns in May 2017 that students were not receiving free meals and canteen takings were not being lodged, leading to a disciplinary process in early 2018 and his departure in June 2018. Chambers, of Carnacregg, Moylough, Co Galway, pleaded not guilty to all charges at Roscommon Circuit Court sitting in Sligo. The seven-day trial concluded on 16 March 2022 when the jury, after 2 hours and 27 minutes of deliberation, found him not guilty of one count of false accounting and 26 charges of theft, following Judge Francis Comerford's direction to acquit on seven further false accounting charges.
