    A car and a motorcycle collided on the N2 at Edmonstown, County Louth, on 11 September 2021 after the car driver performed a u-turn to return to a local restaurant for food. Finlay Power, a 22-year-old man from Hollyfort, Gorey, Wexford, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda in critical condition and died on 13 September 2021. Michael Maloney, a 40-year-old man from Letterkenny, was charged with careless driving causing death. In November 2023, Maloney pleaded guilty at Dundalk Circuit Court and was given a 15-month suspended sentence, an €8,000 fine, and a two-year driving disqualification.
