Gardaí seized about €1.4 million in gold bullion, €460,000 in cash and €210,000 in suspected cocaine during searches of residential and business premises in Dublin on 27 and 28 September 2024. Farhats Bahtijevs, a 55-year-old man, was arrested at his home in Lucan on 27 September and charged with 10 offences, including money laundering, drug sale and possession, and having false documents. Two women, aged in their 30s and 50s, have also been charged and are due before Blanchardstown District Court on 2 October 2024. Bahtijevs appeared at Blanchardstown District Court on Monday 30 September, where no bail application was made and Judge David McHugh remanded him in custody until 4 October.
