latest first- Clonmel man's bin bye-law charge dismissed Breach of waste management bye-laws · Co. Tipperary
Fachtna Roe, a man living at 10 Morton Street, Clonmel, County Tipperary, was brought before Clonmel District Court for breach of waste management bye-laws after Tipperary County Council received a complaint on 11 June 2024 about bins left outside his house. The council issued a fixed penalty notice on 29 November 2024, which was not paid and remained outstanding, and the council then brought the case to court. He told the court he left the bin outside to prevent his death because vehicles mounted the footpath outside his front door. Judge Brian O'Shea dismissed the charge, holding that the wheely bin was used for a purpose other than waste collection, and the dismissal was reported on 3 July 2025.

On May 1, 2015, computer science teacher Fachtna Roe and caretaker Noel Lonergan had a verbal and physical altercation at the Central Technical Institute in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, after Roe attempted to remove a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary that Lonergan had erected as part of a May altar. Lonergan sustained minor injuries to his neck and hand during the tussle, and both men were subject to disciplinary proceedings. Roe, who had previously complained about the altar in 2012, brought a claim to the Labour Court alleging discrimination, harassment and victimisation on grounds of religion. Deputy Labour Court chairman Alan Haugh dismissed the claim after four days of evidence, upholding a 2017 Workplace Relations Commission decision.
