Evan Casey, 30, and Leanne McCormack, 27, were prosecuted for the theft of €32.25 worth of groceries from the Aldi store in Clane on 29 October 2025, which coincided with Casey's birthday. Defence solicitor David Powderly paid compensation covering the retail value of the items in court. At Naas District Court, Judge Desmond Zaidan placed McCormack on the Probation Act and gave Casey a 12-month peace bond, with 12 months in custody if he is brought back before the court within that time.
