    On 13 February 2025, gardaí attended Earl Street, Longford, after a member of the public called about a drunk male lying on the ground in Longford town centre. Eugene Dunn (40), of Farnagh, Longford, was arrested for his own safety after he became abusive towards officers who tried to rouse him. He was charged with being intoxicated in public and with engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour, and Judge Bernadette Owens adjourned the case to 8 July for an update on whether he has engaged with addiction services. The adjournment is the latest development reported.
