Ethan Lacey, 26, of Bray, Co Wicklow, was found unanimously guilty by a jury of one count of sexual assault of a child, relating to an incident on 1 August 2022 at a Dublin address involving a six-year-old girl. The jury heard that he placed his hands on her legs and was seen cupping her genital area while trying to distract her with sweets. The defence said Lacey does not deny there was contact but maintains it was not sexually motivated. On 7 May 2026 at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin, Judge Sinéad Ní Chúlacháin set a headline sentence of three years, imposed a two-and-a-half-year sentence suspended in full for three years, and placed him under Probation Services supervision for three years.
