Glen Ward, 32, and his brother Eric O'Driscoll, 23, both men, were charged in January 2024 over the possession and reckless firing of a .223 calibre Remington AR-15 semi-automatic rifle at a house party in Finglas, Dublin, on 1 January 2022. Video footage recovered from a phone showed Ward firing the rifle and handing it to O'Driscoll, who discharged three shots, while a group of young people watched. The brothers were remanded in custody and refused bail at the High Court in February 2024. Both pleaded guilty at the Special Criminal Court in 2025, and O'Driscoll was jailed for five years in April 2025. Ward was sentenced on 28 April 2025 to six years and three months in prison, with the final nine months suspended.
