On 6 April 2026, gardaí were called to Riverview Apartment Complex in Kilbeggan, County Westmeath, where they say they found Eric Cleary, 24, walking around intoxicated and wearing one shoe. He was charged with two public order offences, threatening behaviour and intoxication in a public place, which he is alleged to have committed there. On 22 April 2026 he pleaded guilty to the public order offence at Tullamore District Court, where his defence barrister said he has no recollection of the incident. Judge Andrew Cody remanded him on continuing bail to 10 June 2026, and sentencing has not yet taken place.
