latest first- Law graduate sentenced to four years for rape in Limerick Rape · Co. Limerick
On 11 August 2019 in Limerick city, a woman was raped by Eoin Considine, a 24-year-old law graduate from Old Barna Road, Newcastle West, after they met in a city centre pub and had consensual sex that became rough. The court heard that intercourse continued after she withdrew consent and begged him to stop. Gardaí contacted Considine by phone after the woman identified him through Instagram and Facebook. He pleaded not guilty, was convicted by a jury after a trial in January 2023 at the Central Criminal Court, and on 26 April 2023 Mr Justice Paul McDermott imposed four years' imprisonment from a headline sentence of four and a half years, with 18 months' Probation Service supervision after release and a no-contact direction. He accepts the verdict but continues to deny rape.
