  On 10 January 2023, Eileen Kennedy, a retired postmistress in her 60s, was struck by a silver Ford van on the Donegal Road at Corporation, Killybegs, County Donegal, and died at the scene. Emmet McCormack, a 51-year-old man from Dooish, Ballybofey, was arrested and charged with dangerous driving causing death. He pleaded not guilty at Donegal District Court in April 2024. In June 2024, he was sent forward for trial at the Donegal Circuit Court, with the matter remanded to the sitting beginning on 12 November 2024.
