On Friday, February 17 last, at 11.30am, gardaí stopped a car driven by Emmanuel Ehikioya, a 29-year-old man, at the N77 Bonnetsrath in County Kilkenny, after noticing the car was not taxed. A search found cannabis worth €10, and Mr Ehikioya later admitted that the South African driving licence he produced was not real. He pleaded guilty at Kilkenny District Court to driving without insurance, not having a driving licence, using and having custody or control of a false instrument, and illegal possession of drugs. In October 2024 the judge fined him €101 for drugs possession, fined him €150 for the false instrument, disqualified him from driving for two years for driving without insurance, and took the other charges into consideration.
