A 36-year-old man, Michael De Sousa, and a 28-year-old woman, Emma Maun, waged a campaign of harassment against their former dentist in Limerick, including loitering outside her workplace, following her by car, throwing pancake mix over her car, sending a vulgar Valentine's Day card, and making false statements of sexual impropriety to gardaí. The harassment began in early 2022 after the dentist referred Maun to a maxillofacial unit. A jury at Limerick Circuit Court convicted both of harassment on 4 July 2024 after a four-week trial, and De Sousa also pleaded guilty to criminal damage and two counts of making a false report. In late July 2024, both received fully suspended four-year sentences for harassment, and De Sousa received concurrent suspended sentences for the other offences, along with a 15-year barring order.
