  Alec Goucher, 70, of Lower George's Street, Wexford, was sentenced to 17 years in prison after a Central Criminal Court jury found him guilty of 25 counts relating to the sexual abuse of his stepdaughter Elizabeth Usher between 2000 and 2007. The counts included sexual assault, rape and section 4 rape with an implement, and the abuse began when Usher was around 11 years old. The trial took place in Waterford in January 2025, with a sentence hearing in Dublin in February 2025, and the case was finalised in November 2025 after delays in preparing a defence psychiatric report. Goucher continues to deny the offending and does not accept the verdicts.
