latest first- Inquest returns unlawful killing verdicts in Lixnaw murder-suicide Murder · Co. Kerry
On Tuesday 7 September 2021, the bodies of Eileen O'Sullivan, 56, and her son Jamie O'Sullivan, 24, were found with gunshot wounds in their bedrooms at their home in Kilfeighney, Lixnaw, North County Kerry, while the body of Eileen's partner Maurice O'Sullivan, 63, was found outside the house with a legally held shotgun at his side. Gardaí investigated the incident as a double murder-suicide, with Maurice O'Sullivan believed to have shot his partner and son before taking his own life. Postmortems and technical examination of the scene concluded with no motive established and no other person sought. The coroner at the inquest in May 2023 returned verdicts of unlawful killing for Eileen and Jamie O'Sullivan and a verdict of suicide for Maurice O'Sullivan.
