Marble solar panel lights were removed with force from the headstone of Michael Reilly at Mount St Oliver Cemetery, just off Kilmallock Road in Limerick city, on a Sunday in late November 2022. Eileen O'Reilly, who visits the cemetery every Sunday to pay respects to her father, discovered the theft and reported it. Michael Reilly passed away over 14 years ago, and O'Reilly believes this is the first incident of vandalism or theft in the graveyard in that time. No suspect has been identified or charged. O'Reilly has called for security systems and CCTV to be installed in the cemetery to prevent future incidents.
