On 18 February 2022, Eileen Dalton, a 78-year-old woman, was killed when a delivery truck struck her at Convent Lane, Dun Laoghaire, as she walked to work in Monkstown. Justinas Marinskas, a 41-year-old man from Swords, Co Dublin, was charged with one count of careless driving causing death. He pleaded not guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, where the trial heard eyewitness accounts, CCTV footage, and a forensic collision expert's evidence. In June 2026, a jury unanimously acquitted Marinskas of the charge.
