On 12 November 2020, at approximately 1.15pm, a number of shots were fired in close proximity to Coillte employees working at Glen Pipe, Mullinavat, Kilkenny, and eight rounds were recovered at the scene. Edward Powell, a 27-year-old man from Taghmon, Co Wexford, was traced to the incident after the workers noted the registration number of a parked vehicle. He pleaded guilty at Kilkenny District Court in June 2022, where Judge Geraldine Carthy imposed a three-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
