latest first- Dublin bombing still under investigation Bombing (murder) · Co. Dublin
Four no-warning bombs were detonated on 17 May 1974 in Dublin and Monaghan, killing 35 people including two unborn babies. On Parnell Street, Dublin, the blast killed the family's father, Edward O'Neill, and caused his heavily pregnant wife Martha to lose their unborn daughter Martha O'Neill, while their five-year-old son Edward O'Neill survived with life-long injuries. The attacks have been blamed on loyalist paramilitaries, but no one has ever been convicted. Gardaí continue to appeal for information, and in June 2022 the O'Neill family urged them to release investigation files.
