    Edward Egan, 39, of Glenwood, Dundalk, was sentenced to six months in September 2023 for assaulting a Garda causing him harm at his home. The incident, alleged to have occurred in December 2020, involved Egan becoming aggressive when cautioned about messages received, then making forcible contact with a member of the local Garda drugs unit while being handcuffed. He was also charged with assaulting a second officer and obstruction. The case was adjourned in August 2022 after the detective Garda tested positive for Covid-19, and was ultimately heard at Dundalk District Court before Judge Eirinn McKiernan.
