latest first- Kelly loses appeal in Limerick pub licence objection Pub licence renewal (licensing objection) · Co. Limerick
On 15 April 2024, Anthony Kelly, a man in his 60s from Southill, Limerick, was playing cards at The Spotted Dog pub in Limerick city when Kenneth Dundon, also in his 60s, entered and sat with Kelly's friends. Publican Eamonn O'Rahilly barred both men, and Kelly subsequently objected to O'Rahilly's renewal of the pub's intoxicating liquor licence, claiming the licensee unreasonably refused to serve persons. At Limerick District Court in February 2025, Judge Patricia Harney dismissed Kelly's objection and awarded costs against him. Kelly's appeal was dismissed at Limerick Circuit Court in May 2025 by Judge Colin Daly, who affirmed the District Court judgement with no order for costs.
