Eamon Moran, a 51-year-old retired detective garda with an address in Perrystown, Dublin 12, was convicted of harassment under section 10.1 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997 for sending a woman unwanted texts and calls between 2021 and 2023. He was originally sentenced to eight months, fully suspended for two years, but Judge David McHugh reactivated the sentence at Blanchardstown District Court in October 2024 after further contact with the victim in September 2024. On appeal in June 2025, Judge Sinéad McMullan fully suspended the eight-month sentence for two years with conditions, citing his serious ill health.
