• Man jailed for seven years over Dublin drug possession and driving Possession of controlled drugs (for sale/supply) · Co. Dublin

At around 12.30am on 29 May 2023, Dziugas Odinas, a man, was driving a Volkswagen Passat with two passengers in Coolock, Dublin, when he failed to stop for gardaí, leading to a high-speed pursuit lasting over an hour across north Dublin and into County Meath involving 12 Garda cars and an air support helicopter. The chase ended outside Gormanstown, Co Meath, when a stinger device punctured all four tyres and patrol cars boxed the vehicle in. Three months later, on 3 August 2023, plain clothes gardaí stopped Odinas on Ballymun Road and found 34 bags of MDMA and four bags of Ecstasy tablets with an estimated street value of about €60,900. Odinas pleaded guilty to possession for sale or supply of the drugs and to dangerous driving and endangerment at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in February 2026. Judge Sarah Berkeley sentenced him to consecutive terms totalling a headline of seven years in May 2026, with the final 12 months suspended.
