During the early hours of 3 June 2022, three people entered an apartment at 25 Weaver's Hall, Market Square, Longford, posing as gardaí, one brandishing a seven-inch kitchen knife, and stole cash, a phone and jewellery from Brazilian man Luis De Silva and Chinese woman Kit de Long. John Kelly (34) posed as a garda with a bogus search warrant, while Donna McDermott (37) and Barry Keane (39) were also present at the scene. Kelly pleaded guilty and was sentenced in February 2023 to five years consecutive to a four-year term for a separate Dublin robbery. McDermott pleaded guilty at a previous sitting but was at large despite a bench warrant; Keane pleaded guilty in June 2023. In October 2023, McDermott and Keane were each sentenced to five years in prison, with the final 18 months suspended.

Donna McDermott, a 38-year-old woman from Longford, was charged over the removal of a TV from the Drumlish home of her recently deceased mother, which is described in press reports as her late mother's home while Clúid Housing Association is recorded as the injured party. The offence was alleged to have taken place at 4 Crois Bothar, Drumlish, on 15 August 2022, after she failed to attend an arranged appointment, and CCTV from a camera near the house captured her carrying a TV. She was charged with entering a premises as a trespasser to commit theft, and her solicitor told the court she would plead guilty. The case was dealt with in the District Court, where the judge registered a conviction and imposed three months in custody, a sentence reported in July 2023.

On 4 April 2021 at 1:20pm in Palace Crescent, Longford, Donna McDermott (38), a woman from Longford, became abusive to gardaí and held on to a garda while shouting and screaming. She was charged with threatening and abusive behaviour that day and separately with theft of whiskey from an Aldi supermarket on 20 March 2020. She entered an early guilty plea, and Judge Owens imposed a one-month custodial sentence for the public order offence, backdated to 15 March, taking the theft charge into consideration. The sentence was reported in May 2023, and her solicitor said she hopes to attend Coolmine rehabilitation centre on her release.
