  On Halloween night, 31 October 2022, a man was assaulted with a knuckleduster at Ard Ban, Long Lane, Letterkenny. Donal Kelly, a 27-year-old man from Letterkenny, was charged with assaulting the man and causing him harm, and with producing a knuckleduster during the fight. On 21 May 2025, Kelly reaffirmed his guilty plea before Judge John Aylmer at Letterkenny Circuit Court. His counsel requested an adjournment to July for sentencing, and the judge remanded him on bail on the same terms.

  Donal Kelly, 26, of Letterkenny, is charged with assaulting three gardaí, damaging Garda property, theft and handling stolen goods following incidents on 29 July 2024. He is accused of assaulting Garda Damien Maughan and Garda Neil Kemmy at the emergency department of Letterkenny University Hospital and Garda Peter Hughes at Letterkenny Garda Station, as well as lighting a cloth inside a prisoner cell in a Garda patrol van and bursting a tube of chalk. Kelly is also charged with stealing clothing and footwear worth €325 at Sports Direct and handling stolen goods worth €250 at the Radisson Blu Hotel carpark. He appeared by videolink at Letterkenny District Court on 2 August 2024, was remanded in custody, and the case was adjourned to 22 August for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
