A man was assaulted on Cope Street in Temple Bar, Dublin 2, in the early hours of 18 February 2026, suffering multiple facial fractures, a broken arm, a 15cm laceration to the back of his head, and loss of multiple teeth. The victim, identified by family members after Gardaí released a photograph of a distinctive tattoo on his forearm, remains in critical condition in an induced coma at Beaumont Hospital. Leonel Ricci, an Argentinian man aged 28, and Dominic Smith, a man aged 36, were arrested on 20 February 2026 and charged with assault causing harm. Both men appeared before Dublin District Court on 23 February 2026, were refused bail, and were remanded in custody to appear before the Central Criminal Court on 27 February 2026.
