Dmitrijs Venskovics, a 45-year-old Latvian man working as an international HGV lorry driver, was found in possession of 36kg of cocaine worth €2.5m in a Ford Transit van at Maxol service station, Donabate, Co Dublin, on 24 April 2020. A Russian man had approached Venskovics and told him he would be paid between €150 and €200 to transport boxes containing the drugs.
