Des Roche, 60, a man, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to assault causing harm after he picked up a knife and turned towards his tenant in a dispute over airsoft rifles in the property on 26 October 2021. The incident took place at Willow Lodge, Booterstown, Dublin, where the tenant, a male student, sustained temporary marks on his hands after grabbing Roche's hands to get him to calm down. Gardaí arrested Roche but he was deemed unfit for questioning for six hours due to intoxication. Judge Martin Nolan suspended in full a 21-month prison term, on condition that Roche keeps the peace and be of good behaviour for that period.
