  Leszek Amernik, a 43-year-old man from Edenderry, was charged with defecating and urinating in a Garda car, assaulting Garda Dermot McDermott and Garda Aidan Lyons, obstructing a garda, public drunkenness and criminal damage at Grogan, Ballycumber on February 1. He pleaded guilty to damaging property and admitted the assaults at Tullamore District Court in July 2025, where a €5,000 compensation order was imposed. On December 10, 2025, he was sentenced to a six-month term suspended for three years, and the conviction triggered a review of a previous suspended sentence from November 2023. The suspended sentence review was adjourned to March 25 for a probation and welfare report.
