• Drunk woman sentenced for assaulting two gardaí at Tullamore Assault on gardaí · Co. Offaly

Dena Gonoude, a 29-year-old woman, staggered into the public office of Tullamore Garda Station on 14 October 2023 at about 3.10am while highly intoxicated and holding a can of beer. She was highly abusive to gardaí and assaulted two officers, Garda Dillon McGlynn and Garda Dermot Bannon, while being escorted by Garda Alan Mills. She pleaded guilty to the offences at district court in early January 2024, though her solicitor said she disputed punching Garda Bannon in the chest. The judge sentenced her to three months suspended for two years for each assault, taking other offences into consideration.
