    Derek Lynch, a 36-year-old man from Ashfield, Meelick, Clare, was captured on CCTV stealing a bottle of whiskey valued at €22 from Aldi on Roche's Street, Limerick city, on 8 January 2026. He returned three days later, on 11 January 2026, and stole a bottle of wine. The alcohol was not recovered, and he faced two charges of theft from Aldi. On 22 May 2026, Judge Patricia Harney at Limerick District Court sentenced him to two weeks' imprisonment for each count of theft.
