Richard Walsh, a 29-year-old Ballintra man, pleaded guilty to one count of defilement of a child under 17 after plying 15-year-old Delaney Leece with white wine as she got ready for a teenage disco on 23 December 2011. Walsh, who had just turned 18 at the time, appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court in February 2023. He was sentenced to 20 months in prison, the last eight of which were suspended, and placed on the sex offender's register. The victim, who waived her anonymity, said the offence caused her to suffer OCD, PTSD, anxiety and depression for many years.
