    Deirdre Payne, a 54-year-old woman of Riverdale, Clonmore, Edenderry, County Offaly, was charged with entering four pharmacies on different dates between September and November 2022 with duly issued prescriptions that had been altered with intent to deceive. Sources say she altered them because she was addicted to a drug and did not think her doctor would give her more. She pleaded guilty in March 2024, and the case was adjourned for 12 weeks to June 26, 2024 for a probation and welfare report, which the judge described as very positive. The latest reported development, in a July 2024 article on a Tullamore court appearance, is that the judge said he would issue the Probation Act.
